Francis A. D'Ambrosio Jr., M.D. is an eye physician and surgeon in Boston and is the Founder of D'Ambrosio Eye Care with offices located in Acton, Gardner & Lancaster Massachusetts. He provides all types of Eye Surgery including Laser Eye Surgery in Massachusetts such as LASIK. Dr. D'Ambrosio Jr. received his undergraduate education at Boston College and his Medical Degree at the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. He completed his Residency in Ophthalmology at SUNY-Buffalo. Dr. D'Ambrosio Jr. then returned to the Greater Boston, Massachusetts area and begin serving the medical and surgical eyecare needs of Boston and Central Massachusetts residents. Oren L. Weisberg, M.D. is an eye physician and surgeon who specializes in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus. Dr.Weisberg attended the University of Pennsylvania where he concurrently received a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees. He received his Medical from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and. performed his internship in General Medicine at Greenwich Hospital in Massachusetts. Dr.Weisberg completed his Ophthalmology Residency in Ophthalmology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. In addition he completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus at the Indiana University Medical Center.

Sahana Vyas, M.D. is an eye physician and surgeon. She specializes in Diseases & Surgery of the Vitreous and Retina.

Dr. Vyas attended Harvard University, where she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree, with a concentration in Romance Languages & Literature. She received her Doctor of Medicine Degree from Saba University School of Medicine. She did her internship training in General Surgery at Brown University-Rhode Island Hospital.  Subsequently, she was a resident in Ophthalmology at the University of Louisville – Kentucky Lions Eye Center, where she was also the Chief Resident in Ophthalmology. Dr. Vyas finished her fellowship training in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery at the University of Virginia.

Dr. Vyas sees patients of all ages at the Lancaster office. She specializes in all diseases of the vitreous and retina, including diabetic eye disease and macular degeneration. Patients will be offered state-of-the art tests and treatments. She utilizes the latest medications, laser treatments, and surgical treatments for vitreoretinal conditions.

Andrea Carr, O.D., Optometrist, Boston Optometrist, Massachusetts Optometrist Andrea Carr, O.D.

Dr. Andrea Carr is a native of Western Massachusetts.  She graduated in 1999 from Saint Anselm College in Manchester New Hampshire with a Bachelor of the Arts in biology.  She attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry just outside Philadelphia from 1999 to 2003.  She completed a one year ocular disease residency at the VA Hospital in Wilmington Delaware.  For the last of her six years spent in the Philadelphia area she was an independent optometrist.  She relocated to central Massachusetts in the summer of 2005.  She has been working at D'Ambrosio Eye Care since June 2005.


Michael S. Cooper, O.D., Optometrist, Boston Optometrist, Massachusetts Optometrist Michael S. Cooper, O.D.

Michael S. Cooper, O.D. is an Optometrist currently working in the Lancaster office of D’Ambrosio Eye Care, Inc.  Dr. Cooper’s clinical management responsibilities includes treating patients with diabetic retinopathy, age related macular degeneration, cataracts, and strabismus in addition to routine eye examinations.  He is especially interested in dry eyes and the co-management of glaucoma.

Dr. Cooper received an undergraduate degree from The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.  While studying at Michigan, Dr. Cooper was involved with several geriatric research projects including Age-Related Macular Degeneration and the social impact of disease and aging.  He later co-founded the Society of Biology and became instrumental in shaping one of the first generation electronic computer records programs for Ophthalmology.

After his college education, he went on to pursue the Doctor of Optometry degree at the New England College of Optometry.  Dr. Cooper shifted his attention to pediatrics in an effort to study sports-related eye injuries in children and early adolescence.  Subsequently, the Performance Vision Club was founded to address these concerns along with the overall visual experience associated with sports.  Dr. Cooper graduated in June 2006.

Dr. Cooper in his spare time enjoys playing soccer, mountain biking, and reading Greek and Roman classical works. 


Richard C. Erickson, O.D., Optometrist, Boston Optometrist, Massachusetts Optometrist Richard C. Erickson, O.D.

Dr. Richard C. Erickson earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio in 1970.  He was awarded a Doctor of Optometry Degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1975.  Dr. Erickson was associated with private practices in Quincy, Massachusetts and Milford, Massachusetts before joining D’Ambrosio Eye Care in 1990.

His professional affiliations include memberships in the American Optometric Association and the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists.

In 2002, the then Acting Governor, Jane Swift, appointed Dr. Erickson to the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Optometry for Health Care Professionals.  He presently continues to serve on this board as a committee member overseeing recertification and licensing.  In addition, Dr. Erickson was selected to be senior clinical examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry in 2004. He continues to serve on the N. B. E. O.

Dr. Erickson has 31 years of Optometric/Contact Lens experience, specializing in the hard to fit and bifocal lens patient, pre-op and post-op Lasik patients.  Along with his interest in refractive surgery, Dr. Erickson has been involved in studies concerning the treatment of dry eye, glaucoma medications and monitoring new surgical technologies.

Dr. Erickson’s goal is to offer personal care to his patients whether it is with a new immnomodulator drop for dry eye, comprehensive eye examination or improved technological advances in contact lens care.  He shares the same philosophy of Francis A. D’Ambrosio, Jr. M.D. in offering eye care at an advanced level with skill and comfort to all patients at D’Ambrosio Eye Care, Inc.


Michael M. Fu, O.D., Optometrist, Boston Optometrist, Massachusetts Optometrist Michael M. Fu, O.D.

Michael Fu, OD started as an optometrist at D’Ambrosio Eye Care in 1998.  He received his undergraduate education and his optometry degree from the University of California, Berkeley.  His ocular disease training was done at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami.  Dr. Fu has worked at several refractive surgery centers across the country and was the former Clinical Director of Refractive Surgery at D’Ambrosio Eye Care. Currently, he is the Optometric Manager at D’Ambrosio Eye Care and works closely with all of the doctors to maintain the highest quality of eye care possible.  Voted as one of the top optometrists in America, he enjoys all aspects of primary eye care including contact lenses, glaucoma comanagement, and pediatrics.  He is a consultant to an eye care web site and is board certified in the use of therapeutic agents.  He is also a member of the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. 

Thuy Q. Le, O.D., Optometrist, Boston Optometrist, Massachusetts Optometrist Thuy Q. Le, O.D.

Dr. Thuy Q. Le has been practicing optometry at D’ambrosio Eye Care for over 4 years. She currently works at the Gardner office. Dr. Le immigrated to the United States from Vietnam 20 years ago. She received her bachelor of science degree in biology from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. After graduation, she stayed in the area and worked as a research assistant in a microbiology lab at the Roger Williams Hospital. She helped develop an intracellular model to study the efficacy of new antibiotics. She later received her doctor of optometry degree with honors from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. At D’ambrosio Eye Care, she provides comprehensive eye exams and contact lens fittings with rigid gas permeable and soft disposable contact lenses. She diagnoses and co-manages various ocular conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. She also developed particular expertise in treating various red eye and dry eye conditions. Dr. Le is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists and the American Optometric Association.


Roderick Lorente, O.D., Optometrist, Boston Optometrist, Massachusetts Optometrist Roderick Lorente, O.D.

Dr. Lorente has over thirty years experience in eye care, including general optometry, contact lenses, and diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Northeastern University in 1971. While at Northeastern, Dr. Lorente was elected to Phi Sigma, the national Biology honor society.

In 1975 Dr. Lorente received his Doctorate in Optometry from the New England College of Optometry, in Boston, Massachusetts. For the next ten years, he specialized in contact lenses, and for part of that time he was Manager of Clinical Programs for American Optical, Soft Lens Division.

In 1983 Dr. Lorente began teaching part time at the New England College of Optometry, first in contact lenses, and later as a clinical instructor in the contact lens clinic, general clinic, and ophthalmology clinic.

Dr. Lorente worked for Peabody Medical Associates for thirteen years before joining D’Ambrosio Eye Care. While working for Peabody Medical Associates, he also taught the course “Differential Diagnosis of Ocular Disease,” to the third year class at New England College of Optometry. Dr. Lorente has lectured extensively all over the United States.

After joining D’Ambrosio Eye Care, Dr. Lorente became the Residency Director of the D’Ambrosio Eye Care residency program, affiliated with the New England College of Optometry.

Dr. Lorente is originally from the North Shore, and enjoys outdoor activities, such as, gardening, hiking, biking, and sailing. He also enjoys restoring antique cars and hot rods.


Thomas Maher, O.D., Optometrist, Boston Optometrist, Massachusetts Optometrist Thomas Maher, O.D.

Dr. Maher graduated from Siena College in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.  In 2000, he earned his Optometry Degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts.  He joined D’Ambrosio Eye Care on June 19, 2000, and completed a one year residency in Ocular Disease and Primary Care Optometry.  Since completing his residency, Dr. Maher has served as the Clinical Director of Refractive Surgery at D’Ambrosio Eye Care and has provided pre-operative and post-operative care on over 1,500 refractive surgery patients.   Dr. Maher has adopted Dr. D’Ambrosio’s philosophy of providing his patients with individualized and personalized care at every step of their LASIK or Lens Implant Surgery experience.

Dr. Maher worked closely with Dr. D’Ambrosio, Jr., as an FDA Co-Investigator for Restasis eye drops which have become an important part of the clinical treatment regimen for Dry Eye Syndrome.  Dr. Maher has also conducted four research projects which have been presented at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS) national meeting.


John Marabello, O.D., Optometrist, Boston Optometrist, Massachusetts Optometrist John Marabello, O.D.

Dr. John Marabello is a Staff Optometrist at D’Ambrosio Eye Care focusing on primary care and contact lens services.  He is a lifelong resident of Central Massachusetts and has been providing eye care to the community for over twenty years.

Dr. Marabello received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Norwich University in Vermont.  He subsequently became a licensed optician after completing two years of study at the Worcester Industrial Technical Institute.  He received his Doctorate degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston where he graduated with honors.

In his spare time, Dr. Marabello is an avid runner.  Additionally, he enjoys golf and gardening.


Lisa Wilson, O.D., Optometrist, Boston Optometrist, Massachusetts Optometrist Lisa Wilson, O.D.

Dr. Lisa Wilson, a native of Rochester NY, obtained her undergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in World Religious Studies from Ithaca College in Ithaca NY.  She presented at the Nation Undergraduate Research Conference and was inducted into the Sigma Xi Research Society in 1993.  She then relocated to Memphis TN to attend Southern College of Optometry where she received her Doctor of Optometry degree.

Dr. Wilson’s practice experience started in primary family eye care.  In this setting she performed comprehensive vision examinations for glasses and contact lenses, treatment for eye infections and injuries.  Dr. Wilson also has added experience in pediatric optometry and vision development and continues to be a member of the American Foundation for Vision Awareness. 

More recently she has joined the refractive surgery arena by performing pre-operative evaluations for patients interested in LASIK surgery and following these patients through their post-operative care.  Continuing her interest in research, she participated in the FDA trial of the Nidek laser for the Lasik treatment of hyperopia.  Dr. Wilson also has experience performing pre and post-operative evaluations for patients interested in cataract/lens implant surgery with either mono-focal or newer multi-focal lens implants.  Dr. Wilson is committed to quality patient care and desires each patient’s experience with vision correction surgery to be a positive one.
